About Dr. Denis Wilson

Denis Wilson, MD described Wilson 's Temperature Syndrome in 1988 after observing people with symptoms of low thyroid and low body temperature, yet who had normal blood tests. He found that by normalizing their temperatures with T3 (without T4) their symptoms often remained improved even after the treatment was discontinued. He was the first doctor to use sustained-release T3.

How do I know if I have Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome?

Tags: , |

The steps of diagnosis are essentially,

  1. Does the patient’s story sound typical of Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome?
  2. Is there any other great explanation for the patient’s complaints?
  3. Is there any reason the patient shouldn’t try the treatment for Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome?
  4. Try the T3 therapy protocol for Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome and see how well it works.

Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome is largely a diagnosis of exclusion and is best identified with a therapeutic trial. What does that mean? It means that there are several identifiable medical conditions that can cause symptoms similar to Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome that can be easily ruled out or excluded by a qualified

Guggul is an herb that supports thyroid health

Tags: , , , , , , |

Guggul Myrrh is an herb that benefits the thyroid and the body in many ways.  Its scientific name is Commiphora myrrha and is the same plant which produces the myrrh mentioned in the bible. Resin from the Guggul plant has been used medicinally since at least 600 BCE.  That’s over 2600 years of accumulated clinical experience!

It has been used in a variety of medical traditions to treat obesity, arthritis and muscular disorders, heart conditions, tumors, liver disorders and thyroid disorders, among others. Modern studies have indicated that certain components of guggul resin—the

WOW! I have never felt so good in my entire life

I wanted you to know how miraculous your T3 therapy was for me. I’ve been hypothyroid for most of my life (getting diagnosed is a story in itself!). One of my doctors had tested for reverse T3 after I had noticed that even though we had increased my T4 (Levoxyl), I wasn’t feeling better, much less well. My labs consistently showed RT3 values in the 200/300 range, and nothing we did made it come down much. He was out of ideas on how to treat me, so I found a naturopath who happened to be in your network. Because I

When taking iodine, be sure you’re getting enough selenium

Good health is often about proper balancing.  This is especially true when it comes to thyroid function which can become unbalanced in a variety of different ways.   Seesaws are built to balance weight, and a little weight added in the right place at the right time may help balance the seesaw, but adding too much weight in the same spot can make the seesaw unbalanced.

In a similar way, everyone needs iodine to make thyroid hormones  (iodine is also very important in breast tissue [70% improvement in fibrocystic breast disease](1) and other tissues of the body).  On the other hand, iodine

Amazed by the increase in energy

I have been on WT3 for about 18 days and have been amazed by the increase in energy and the decrease in pain that I have experienced. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia several years after I started taking Synthroid for a high TSH level….

Could low selenium be contributing to your low body temperature?

Could low selenium be contributing to your low body temperature?
Is low selenium keeping you from a normal body temperature?

A recent study was performed on 70 women with autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis) which causes elevated TPO antibodies.  36 patients were each given 200 mcg / day of selenium for 3 months and T4 to keep their TSH levels normal.  Then, tests showed that the TPO antibodies had dropped 40% in the patients that had taken the selenium, while the TPO antibodies increased by 10% in the 34 patients who had not.

Furthermore, 9 of the

I have lost twenty eight pounds

Dear Dr. Wilson, Many thanks for your research and persistance in determining an underlying cause of low body temperature. I have been running subnormal temps for the past twenty-one years and none of my physicians seemed to be terribly concerned. During these years, I had long suspected that my fatigue(never felt rested), slow but steady weight gain(despite various diets), and feeling of being “chilled to the bone” especially in the evening had something to do with my temperature running between 95.4 to 96.7 degrees on a regular basis. Unless I used an electric blanket or insisted that my husband warm

Gluten-sensitivity and low thyroid function

Gluten intolerance has been getting a lot of attention lately but did you know that it might be adversely affecting your thyroid function?  A recent study reported in the American Journal of Gastorenterology showed that in select cases, hypothyroidism improves when people avoid eating wheat.

As you may know, gluten is a substance found in wheat and other grains that gives bread flour it’s elasticity and chewiness.  Have you ever had a flour burrito where the tortilla seemed to stretch without tearing?  That’s from the gluten.

Once upon a time, we humans gathered and hunted for our food.  We ate game, nuts,

Too bad this wasn’t around 60 years ago

This is … invaluable … to the “wandering wounded”! I was first clinically diagnosed as hypothyroid at age 12, only to have that reversed because of what was then found to be a normal BMR (basal metabolism rate) test. After a lifetime of struggle, I am now finding what seems to be magical relief in Dr. Wilson’s system. God bless all of you who support us. ‘Too bad this wasn’t around 60 years ago when I first needed it!!! Better late than never
