Adaptogen Plus 2 is a potent syrup that provides adrenal and metabolic support. It is also a good adjunctive treatment for some endocrine disorders. Traditional Uses: Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is one of the most versatile and thoroughly studied of all medicinal herbs. It has demonstrated effectiveness as a detoxifier and has anti-ulcer and anti-inflammatory effects. It is also an adrenal tonic that helps with conditions of adrenal insufficiency such as Addison's disease. Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus), the most famous tonic herb of China, has been shown to nourish the adrenal gland, thereby increasing the body’s ability to handle stress. In traditional Chinese medicine it is also thought to replenish chi (the vital energy of the body). Sarsaparilla (Smilax officinalis) contains steroidal glycosides that are hormone balancers in both men and women. It contains precursors to progesterone and testosterone. Sarsaparilla is thought to be helpful to anyone who has a hormone imbalance. Rose Hips and Hawthorne berries contain high amounts of vitamin C and bioflavonoids, which are very helpful in strengthening the adrenal glands. Hawthorne is a herb that also helps tonify the cardiovascular system.

Adaptogen Plus 2 helps to quickly restore adrenal function because it contains the adrenal hormones Pregnenolone and DHEA.

Pregnenolone has been described as the grandmother of all steroid hormones. 150 different steroid hormones are derived from Pregnenolone. It takes up to two steps to convert it into DHEA or Progesterone. It appears that Pregnenolone conversion occurs only according to the body’s needs. It has been linked to improvements in memory, mood, and immune function.

DHEA is the most abundant adrenal steroid hormone in the body. Through its peripheral conversion to androgens and estrogens it helps regulate a wide array of metabolic and endocrine functions ranging from fat catabolism to energy regulation. DHEA supplementation has been associated with increased emotional well-being and immune function.

What to Expect: Results can be noticed within a week or may take a month. Response varies with the severity of the condition.

Lab Tests: Cortisol tests can show changes in adrenal function. DHEA levels will increase very quickly with the use of Adaptogen Plus 2.

Side Effects: In some individuals, licorice can increase blood pressure- especially if taken in high doses for prolonged periods of time. Adaptogen Plus 2 however, contains Hawthorne extract, which is used to balance blood pressure that is either too high or too low. Nevertheless, hypertension can be a potential side effect.
