I had been checking my temp before we went on vacation.... It was below normal. I have been taking [T3]....I am finally sleeping through the night, not feeling run down, my eczema is almost gone, what a world of difference. I'm going to contact my Dr to let him know about Wilson's Syndrome. Thank you for the emails and reminders.

I started taking Cholesterol Care & ThyroCare 6 months ago as recommended. My total cholesterol dropped 69 points (from 262 to 193); trigly. down 35 points (86 to 51); D-HDL down 25 (from 93 to 68)--still very good; VLDL down 7 points (17 to 10) and LDL down 37 points (152 to 115). I've also noticed hardening of my fingernails (they used to crack & split). Thanks so much.

I have been on every dose of Synthroid for the past 20 years, since I was part of an experiment to shut down my thyroid to avoid cancer from radiation as a baby. Since readng your newsletter, I asked my doctor for T3 because the Synthroid has not abated my symptoms of fatigue, depression, and poor concentration and focus. I read that T3 is best taken at intervals. I currently am on 5 mcg of [T3] twice daily. ...I also just received ThyroCare and am wondering when to take it- at the same time I take my pills or at different intervals? Since I have been taking the T3, I have noticed a definite change in my symptoms. I am so grateful for the newsletter, because for 20 years, T4 has not been sufficient. I now have Hashimoto's and am interested in continuing to investigate the T3 and ThyroCare in my treatment.

Thank You,

Dear Virginia,

We haven't seen ThyroCare to interfere with the WT3 protocol at all, therefore, it appears that it can be taken at any time in relation to the T3. You mention 5 mcg of T3. That is a dose typical of Cytomel or "instant release" T3. Are you aware that T3 can be compounded with a sustained release agent? You might notice even better response with "sustained-release" T3.

Similarly, it's apparent that not all pharmacists make the T3 compound equally well. Some patients have noticed an improvement when they've switched to getting their T3 from Medaus Pharmacy, which is easy to do since they accept insurance from over 200 insurance companies.

Best wishes for a full recovery,

What I need to know is how and where can I get ThyroCare? Have been on Synthroid for many years and still feel "rotten" even though blood work says "normal."

You can get ThyroCare here.

What is the difference between "only uses WTSmed Supplements" and "only uses the WT3 protocol"? Does it mean one uses T3 and the others don't?

On our List of WTS Physicians most physicians use both WTSmed Supplements and the WT3 protocol. A few physicians may not be licensed to, or may elect not to use the WT3 protocol but they do use the WTSmed Supplements, and they are so designated. And on the other hand, some physicians don't use WTSmed Supplements but they do use the WT3 protocol, and they are so designated.

Best wishes,

How do low iron levels affect thyroid and temperatures? Do iron levels need to be at a normal level before starting a WTSmed Supplement for the therapy to be effective? Beth

Studies have shown that low iron levels can interfere with the body's thyroid hormone production. At the same time, iron supplements and thyroid medication should be taken hours apart (with the thyroid medication to be taken first) since iron can interfere with the absorption of thyroid medication.

In general it is best to identify and correct as many deficiencies or health care problems as possible. Wilson's Temperature Syndrome often develops or worsens under periods of physical or emotional stress. Any illness or health problem can put stress on the body and therefore contribute to the development of WTS. Often, simply addressing such underlying problems will begin to reverse WTS symptoms.

Though it makes sense to identify and remove as many underlying problems as possible that does not necessarily mean patients cannot experience some relief with herbal support in the meantime.

Warmly,
Denis Wilson, MD
